Welcome to Forever Friends!

WHAT WE DO---

Forever Friends rescues Golden Retrievers from shelters and owners who must sadly give up their dogs. We place them in foster homes for evaluation, provide medical attention as needed and, through applications and family visits, adopt them into loving, forever homes in Ventura and southern Santa Barbara counties.

GOLDEN OLDIES PROGRAM--Do you know someone who is retired and would like a companion to care for at little or no cost? Do you know a retirement home/facility that would like a resident therapy Golden? Contact us about our Golden Oldies - Senior-to-Senior Program at info@ffgrrescue.org. We will place senior Goldens in approved senior homes as adoptions with no adoption fee or, if a known medical condition exists, as permanent fosters, with food and medical expenses paid by FFGRRescue.

Reception and Luncheon

Forever Friends was feted to a lovely fundraising luncheon hel d at the beautiful home and gardens of Mr. and Mrs. M. Jordan of Camarillo. Guests were greeted by one of our special goldens, Misty. Our other canine ambassadors were Winston and Courage. The fabulous food was provided by Monrose Catering of Westlake Village and entertainment provided by Randy Strom. The Silent Auction had an amazing selection and variety of items and also added to the financial success of the day. Our thanks go to all who put so much time and effort into this wonderful day. A very special thanks to Scout Master Marty Simmons and Boy Scout Troop #753 for their help with all the clean up.

Hope's Story

Last June, Hope came to Forever Friends with a broken leg and wounded spirit. Afraid of her own shadow, we knew there was quite a bit of work to be done before she would be ready for her forever home. But after nearly 6 months in her foster home, 2 surgeries, a lot of healing physically and emotionally, meeting several adopters who were “almost perfect,” Hope adopted Kim S of Los Angeles to be her next Guardian Angel and forever home. It has been a slow process but Hope continues to grow more confident with gentle nurturing and encouragement. She has learned that most people are good and warmed up easily to Kim and her soft touch. Now she’s just got to figure out the doggies doors to her new back yard and why the cat is eating “her” food. Throughout Hope’s time with us, we at FFGRR were again reminded of how important foster homes are to the rescue process. Hope would have never survived in the shelter system and really needed a nurturing environment to begin her road to recovery. We can not thank Hope’s foster family enough for the amazing job they did with this special girl.

SPONSOR
Often Goldens come into rescue with chronic or lifelong medical conditions. Such Goldens are usually placed in loving homes as 'permanent fosters', and FFGRR continues to pay the medical bills. Go to Sponsor a Golden to read the stories of these permanent fosters and become a sponsor.

ADOPT
If you look through our Forever Homes stories, you'll see what love and joy this special breed brings to families and homes. The Goldens we take in range from beautiful AKC registered purebreds to adorable and loving Golden mixes, from puppies to seniors...all in need of a roof, some food, and lots of love.

FOSTER
We always need homes and loving hearts in our service area (Ventura County and southern Santa Barbara County) to provide a temporary home and TLC for a homeless Golden. This is a perfect solution for seniors or retirees who want to travel yet have a furry companion when they are home!

VOLUNTEER
Forever Friends depends on its volunteers... people who want to make a difference in a dog's life. Transport, family evaluations, shelter intake, events, fundraising...these are just a few of the activities involved in finding good homes for Goldens.

ECO-RECYCLE
Don't forget you can turn in your old digital cameras, cell phones, laptops, handhelds, and inkjet cartridges to help Goldens and the planet!

Help reduce California pet over-population with the California Pet Lover's license plate! You can pre-order new California license plates with this theme at www.caspayplate.com. A portion of the proceeds will be used to promote local spay/ neuter programs.

We've started a new page for the more unusual rescue stories that we've reported in the past. These are the ones that don't usually end up as adoptions or are adoptions under slightly different circumstances. Go to Rescue Stories to read any you've missed.
