 Sponsor a Golden

WON'T YOU BE A SPONSOR FOR LUCKY?

Lucky is a 10-year-old male Golden mix who came to us in early August from the Camarillo Shelter.  He was surrendered because his owner thought he was “too old.”  Lucky acted old and came to us in a state of great neglect – significantly overweight, torn hind leg ACLs, fur so matted and filled with burrs that the range of motion of his legs was restricted and his ears were pinned to his head.  Lucky started off wary and fearful.

Over several weeks, after much grooming, medical care and attention, Lucky started learning how to be a dog again.  He seems to be getting younger by the day - he adores attention from humans and has become a loyal and patient dog.  Lucky loves squeaky toys, walks and chasing and “bathing” his feline brother, Nick.  He started off by barely being able to walk for 10 minutes but now he enjoys 30 minute walks and even wants to run!

Lucky has received some medical care but requires additional care to live a full life.  As mentioned above, he has two ACL tears on his rear legs that require surgery to completely repair; however, he is overweight by at least 20 pounds, so the surgery can't be considered until the weight is lost.  He demonstrates discomfort when getting up out of a down position, and is uncomfortable in a sit or stand for too long of a period.

FFGRRescue has made Lucky a permanent foster and will be deciding if it is in his best interest at his age to have the surgery or to just continue on pain management.  Either way will require expensive medical treatment the rest of his life.

You can be an important part of our efforts.  Each dog in a situation like Lucky's would like to have a sponsor (or two or three!). Sponsors are people whose hearts have been touched through a picture or a description, and have a desire to help a Golden who needs a second chance.

Enlarge your family circle with sponsorship gifts for birthdays, holidays and special occasions.  Sponsorship is fun and easy. You can make a one-time donation to sponsor Lucky or set up a subscription donation of as little as $10 a month.  This is a wonderful way to honor someone special.

Just go to our Donate page to make a one-time donation or a subscription donation for Lucky. Be sure to note "for Lucky" in the comments area. Lucky will appreciate it very much, and so will FFGRRescue.
